‘In Light of Waking’ is a solo photographic installation and workshop taking place in Central Court which offers a contemplative environment in which visitors can consider the residual life of dreams, the images, sensations, and narrative fragments that persist beyond sleep.
At the centre of the display will be four new photographic works from Guy’s ongoing series ‘Croak Dream’. Developed from anonymously submitted dreams gathered through a citywide open call – with stickers in Beeston, Hyde Park, and Leeds City Centre – these light box framed images are constructed through staged tableaux that merge personal recollection with shared symbolic motifs.
Catching Forty Winks, Assembly House, Armley, Leeds. October 2025
Catching Forty Winks brings together new work by Hannah Guy, Reece Kelly and Alegria Repila Smith, developed during their year-long residency at Assembly House. The exhibition features four timber light boxes by Hannah Guy, each housing newly produced photographic works.
Through photography, sculpture, textiles and sound, the artists explore the borderlands between memory, emotion and the subconscious. Dream fragments, personal histories and imaginative artefacts intertwine to form an atmospheric, multi-sensory installation.
The Accelerator Bursary, which supported the development of this work, was funded by Leeds Art Fund and delivered by Leeds Art Gallery.
Midnight Sun, North Bar, Leeds City Centre. October – November 2024
Leeds-based artists Hannah Guy and Imo Dunkley present ‘Midnight Sun’ a month-long photography show honouring, listening to and considering nightime as a place for freedom and possibility. Hannah and Imo first connected as Fine Art students in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, each drawn to the other’s distinctive approach to night-time photography. Now, they’ve come together to present a collection of work that reflects the evolution of their practices over the past two years.
